AntKeepers HubBEGINNER GUIDE

A comfortable formicarium

Space, moisture and security in balance

A good nest is sized for the colony and creates choices instead of forcing one uniform microclimate.

01

Choose the right size

Empty chambers become waste sites and are hard to regulate. Prefer a snug nest with room to expand or close unused modules.

02

Create a moisture gradient

Hydrate only part of the nest so brood and workers can choose. Measure rather than guess, prevent standing water, and follow species-specific needs.

03

Ventilation and temperature

Provide gentle air exchange without drying the nest. Heat one side only, use a thermostat, and keep the water reservoir away from the hottest point.

04

Escape and hygiene

Test every seam, cable opening and lid. Use a suitable barrier in the outworld, provide feeding dishes, remove waste and keep a backup test tube available.
